Overview

The B10Y36 is an impact-resistant, high-sensitivity three-axis IEPE accelerometer built on a piezoelectric ceramic shear sensing element with a wide-bandwidth response and a low-noise circuit optimized for low vibration amplitudes. With 1,000 mV/g sensitivity and a ±5 g range it is the 1,000 mV/g, ±5 g member of the family with an extended 8 kHz bandwidth, for the lowest-amplitude structural motion with more high-frequency content. Typical uses include high-rise and long-span bridge sway, dam and foundation monitoring, ground-borne vibration and structural surveys that also capture higher-frequency events.

Shape-memory alloy fasteners and a special structural design extend shock survivability well beyond standard fasteners, to 1,000 g pk, so a dropped or knocked sensor keeps its calibration. The built-in low-impedance circuit gives a good low-frequency response with a ≥ 2 s discharge time constant, and the laser-welded titanium-alloy 19.7 mm cube weighs 37 g, carries an M2.5 thread on each axis for coupling and calibration, and ships with an isolated mounting base as standard.

Why engineers choose the B10Y36

High sensitivity, low noise

1,000 mV/g output with spectral noise of 4.2 / 1.6 / 0.8 µg/√Hz at 10 / 100 / 1000 Hz and 0.00001 g rms broadband resolution, so the micro-g amplitudes of buildings, bridges and foundations come through clearly above the noise floor.

Survives rough handling

Shape-memory alloy fasteners with a special structural design carry the sensing element through 1,000 g pk shock and 400 g rms vibration without damage, far beyond what a high-sensitivity sensor with standard fasteners tolerates on site.

Three axes, one mounting point

Simultaneous X, Y and Z from a single 19.7 mm cube with ≤ 5% transverse sensitivity and a 1/4-28 4-pin connector for one four-core cable. Response from 0.5 Hz to 8 kHz (±5%) with resonance ≥ 32 kHz, M5 stud mount (10-32 optional) and the H02C10 isolated cube base included.

Typical applications

  • Bridge, building and civil structural measurements
  • Floor, foundation and ground vibration
  • Modal testing of large structures
  • Field monitoring where sensors see impacts or rough handling
  • Low-level machinery and environmental vibration
  • General low-amplitude triaxial vibration measurement
