Overview

G02AXX in-line charge converters turn the high-impedance charge output of piezoelectric (PE) charge-mode sensors into a low-impedance voltage signal. The converter sits in the cable run and is powered by the constant-current supply of any standard IEPE input, so charge accelerometers run on IEPE signal conditioners and data acquisition systems without a separate charge amplifier. Three gains (0.1, 1 and 10 mV/pC) and six connector configurations cover most sensor and cable combinations, from a full-size ⌀12.5 mm body with BNC output to a 2.3 g miniature M5-to-M5 version. Typical uses include high-temperature engine, exhaust and turbine measurement with charge accelerometers on IEPE DAQ, shock and blast testing, long cable runs from charge sensors and retrofitting charge-mode sensors onto existing IEPE systems.

Choose the gain by the charge your sensor will deliver at full scale: 0.1 mV/pC accepts up to 50,000 pC for high-level shock and high-sensitivity sensors, 1 mV/pC up to 5,000 pC for general work, and 10 mV/pC up to 500 pC for low-level signals from low-sensitivity sensors. Every model outputs ±5 V peak with ≤ 0.5 mVrms noise and ±1% precision over 0.5 – 50k Hz (±10%), runs from 18 – 30 VDC at 4 – 20 mA, and works from −40 to +120 °C. Keep the charge-side cable short and use low-noise cable; the output side runs on ordinary coaxial cable back to the IEPE input, which powers the converter through the same cable.

Why engineers choose the G02AXX

No separate charge amplifier

The converter is powered through its output cable by the 4 – 20 mA constant-current supply of any IEPE input, so charge sensors plug straight into the IEPE channels of the DAQ, analyzer or controller you already own. No rack-mount charge amplifier, no extra power supply, no change to the acquisition hardware.

Three gains, one series

0.1, 1 and 10 mV/pC with ±2% sensitivity tolerance and ±1% precision match the converter to the sensor and the test level, from 50,000 pC full scale for blast and pyroshock down to 500 pC for low-level work with low-sensitivity sensors. ±5 V output, ≤ 0.5 mVrms noise, 11 ±2 V DC bias. Other gains on request.

Six connector configurations

M5 or 10-32 input to BNC, BNC (F) or 10-32 output in a ⌀12.5 mm, 17 g body, plus a ⌀6 × 30 mm, 2.3 g miniature M5-to-M5 version for tight spaces and light test articles. Order by the full model number from the selection table below; other connectors on request.
